Information for Canadian Teachers thinking about working in London
London has welcomed Canadian trained teachers in our schools for many years. Our Headteachers (Principals) value your training and your professional attitude to work, consequently many of your colleagues have found great teaching jobs in London and have experienced living and working abroad. Some have stayed and become “Londoners” whilst others have moved back home taking with them a wealth of experience of working in a different country, and let’s not forget the travel opportunities to Europe and beyond!
There are opportunities to work in London wherever you are in your career; just out of university or after several years in the classroom.
The deciding factor is really whether you are able to gain a visa to work in the UK. The most common visa is called the Youth Mobility Visa, available to Canadians under 30 years old. Some of you may also be entitled to the Ancestry Visa, please have a look at the UK Borders Agency Website for more information.
We can help you find work if you are Primary, Secondary or Special Needs trained.
If you have already decided that you will be coming to London in the next year and would like to have an interview so we can start looking for work for you, please email education@teachinlondon.net with your resume and which centre would be the easiest for you and we can arrange an interview.
